Why Wolf?

History

My Wolf journey started roughly in 2016 when I wanted to give a proper identity to the 3D stuff I was making.
Although it started from the idea of working together with other artists and to establish a studio, my plan shifted over the years. That’s because I had to face a hard reality: collaboration with artists is hard.
You have to find someone who is not busy, who wants to be involved in the project, and be willing to wait for when the product is going to be sold online. And although I did some collaborations in the past, it has become harder and harder as everyone minds their own business nowadays, which for me looks like a sad reality.

Idea

The idea of a wolf for identity originated when Stefan and me were chatting back in 2016. I was thinking it would be cool to have a logo and a simple name to remember like most brands have, moreover, back then Stefan had a wolf in his profile picture, so it became a pretty obvious choice. 😅
Anyway, from left to right are the logos I designed: left is from 2016 to 2024, center is from 2024 to 2026, right is last week’s new logo.

Website

So back in 2016 I made a quick website using Weebly, which was available under 3dwolf.weebly.com, enough for me to get started.

I’ve also hand drawn this wolf with a pencil for the background. 🎨 (I am not a painter, but this turned out good in my opinion)

In 2017 I bought my first domain 3d-wolf.com for the website, then in 2018 decided to write it down in raw HTML and CSS. I know 😅, it’s strange but at the time I didn’t know static site generators existed…
Anyway, this allowed me to have full control over the design of it, also because I wanted little to no JavaScript, and made the UI mobile friendly.

In 2020 I wanted a complete rewrite of the website, this is when I got in touch with Nathan , he helped me first make the website using Jekyll and later (2020) convert it to Hugo.

In 2023 I changed the domain for the website, it became wolfstudio.io, but in 2025 I took the decision to merge the Wolf website into my main portfolio’s one (which I deployed in 2021) as it didn’t make sense to have 2 separate sites anyway.
